We love Internationals
Leeds is an increasingly diverse city with many people from other nations. Whether you have come from overseas to work in Leeds, to study at university or just to learn English, you are welcome at Mosaic.
We understand that you probably find yourself in a society that is different from your own and many things might seem a bit unfamiliar. At Mosaic we want to build a church where everybody feels welcome and accepted. We believe that God draws people from all nations and backgrounds to be part of His family. Our aim is to help people integrate into community and feel ‘at home’.
Besides Sunday gatherings we encourage Mosaic members to be involved with mid-week small groups called Mission Groups. Most groups have a mixture of friendship, food, worship, Bible study and prayer, as well as a focus on mission in the city.
Are you an international student?
If you’d like to find out more about what Christians believe, Mosaic helps run a 9-week course in September (with other churches in Leeds) specifically for international students called ‘Introduction to Jesus Christ and the Bible‘.
Mosaic members also help run a weekly social event for international students on Friday evenings in Headingley called ‘Global Café’.

I came from Taiwan to study for my Master’s degree at the University of Leeds. Being a Christian away from my country, the most important thing was not only to find somewhere to live, but also to find a church. I found it quite easy to fit into the church life at Mosaic because of the welcoming people here. In the very beginning, it was difficult to meet local people because of the language barrier, and I’m quite shy. But people in the church always greeted me with warmth and joy which made me feel welcome and part of the church. I thank God for making good friends here to have a sense of belonging in church and my life in Leeds.
I also joined a Mission Group as well and really enjoyed the fellowship in God. “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20) By connecting with sisters and brothers in Christ, God would encourage me through others’ sharing. Every week someone would share their testimony and it always inspired me. I saw how God’s hand works vividly in everyone’s life across cultures. Now I’ve finished my Master’s degree and am back in Taiwan, and I always think of Mosaic and my friends there very often. Although we are in different hemispheres, the cherished friendship is still there in the connection of God. I have also adjusted well in my new church in Taiwan, helped by my experiences and lessons from church life in England!
