DAY 5: giving thanks for god’s presence in our lives
BIBLE READING
Psalm 16:8-11
I keep my eyes always on the Lord.
With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will rest secure,
because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
2. LISTEN/WORSHIP
3. RE-READ THE SCRIPTURE
Read again - Psalm 16: 8-11
4. REFLECT & ACT
God's presence changes how we experience life. Psalm 16:11 reminds us that fullness of joy is found in God's presence. We don't have to manufacture joy, we discover it in him. Wonderfully these verses which speak about joy also include a foreshadowing of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. Psalm 16 is the song of Jesus, The faithful one will not see decay because God raises Jesus from the dead, which in turn means we can sing this song with hope that we, like the Psalmist, will not be abandoned to the realm of the dead but raised with Christ at His return.
ACTION
Stop for five minutes of stillness.
Put aside your phone and distractions and simply rest in God's presence.
Thank him that he is with you.
5. PRAY - Concluding Prayer
Father God, thank you that you are with me.
Today I choose to find my joy in your presence.
Grow in me joy. Amen
