18th - 25th January 2026
To help us grow and step into this year of being Surrendered and Sent, We are going to have a “week of surrender” from 18th - 25th January.
Below are 4 things we’d love to invite you to in this “week of surrender”
Surrender & sent WEEK
-
One of the beautiful things about prayer is that it is us acknowledging our total dependence on God, And that’s what surrendering to God means, it’s us declaring we can’t do this life on our own, we don’t have what it takes to live out all you have for us without your help God.
So practically we’d love you to create a new short term rhythm in our week, to pray together. We're going to have 6 opportunities to gather on virtual prayer calls through the week across 3 days. Morning and lunch on:
Monday, Wednesday & Friday
6:30 - 7am
&
12:30-1:00pm
They’ll start with a short reflection in the scriptures and then we’ll get straight into surrendering our lives to God in prayer.
-
One of the things about fasting is the declaration that though food is often what we desire, it’s not God and through fasting we declare that God is our sustainer - Jesus in Matt 4:4 ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
It’s a tangible way to surrender some daily comforts to sharpen our focus and make extra time and space to hear from God.
Join us on Wednesday 21st January as we do a corporate fast together as a church.
Social media
Surrender by fasting all social media for the week!
We want to make a big ask, for some of you may never have done this before, some of you did this last year, love it if you could commit wholeheartedly to this. The biggest distraction to most of us is our phones, we touch our phones on average 2600 times a day. If we’re honest a large proportion of us are totally addicted to them… don’t think that’s an overstatement.
They impinge on our prayer lives, they get in the way of important family moments and relationships,
they’re a quick hit of dopamine a short term comfort but a poor replacement for the deep joy there is to be found in God.

We want to end the week by feasting together!
We’ll break the week of fasting with a meal together at The Feast which will precede the Encounter Night on 25th January at St Luke’s Church in Beeston.
Please let us know you’re coming via theChurchSuite event page so we can cater accordingly.
We can’t wait to see you there!
-
We will finish our week of surrender with our monthly Encounter Night on Sunday evening, 25th June from 7.30-9pm at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union!
This will be straight after ‘The Feast’ (see above). We will spend time praying and worshipping together, and hear stories of how God has been at work in and around us during our ‘surrender week’. Please make every effort to be there.
